Phi Phi Islands were one of my dream destinations since I have watched Leonardo Di Caprio’s The Beach movie. I thought in general Phuket was an island like that. However when I landed on Phuket, I saw it was nothing like this but a huge island with lots of structures, heavy traffic and crowded beaches.
In order to reach The Beach’s paradise beach, Maya Beach, you have to take one of the tours to Phi Phi Islands. I paid 3500 Bahts (around 100 USD) for the tour. I bought it fromt he hotel however you might find cheaper deals from the city center. It takes about an hour to reach the Maya Beach from Phuket.
Once you get there, you are mesmerized by the beauty of the nature however you would also be disappointed by the crowd of people visiting the islands. I could take some good shots even thought the crowd. You should also walk back to the other side of the island. It takes only 5 minutes. You will reach a beautiful lagoon and a small pier where you will see a tiny cute island.
After Maya Beach, we saw Monkey Island and the Parrot Cave but only approached by boat. Then it was lunch time. We had a lunch stop in a beach restaurant. The food was good and view of the place was wonderful.
Then we did some snorkelling. However there was a strong current and it was not easy to stay at the spot so I couldnt do it very long.
After snorkelling, there was one more stop to go; The Bamboo Island. At that second, the weather turned into grey with clouds cover the sky and wind came out. We were a bit worried about the coming storm however the tour guide told us we can stay at the island for an hour. The storm would not start until then. But his forecast was wrong. After 10 minutes the rain started and the island guards announced everyone on the island to go back to their boats. It was so hard to get on the boat beacuse of the wind and the waves in the water.
Somehow, all of us managed to get on the boat but on the way back to Phuket, the boat was shaken by the waves a lot and most of us got soaked. Some people on the boat that motion sickness. It was all adventurous until we reached the port in Phuket.
